Video: Florida Road Signs Recognition Tests
Learn the Florida Road Signs from Driver’s License Handbook
This video helps you study the Florida highway signs for your Florida driver’s license test or permit exam.
The Official Florida Driver’s License Handbook lists more than 60 Florida road signs you should be able to recognize. On the test, DMV can also ask you about the most common shapes and colors on U.S. highway signs. Read this part of the handbook carefully. New and young drivers often miss one out of two questions about road signs.
There are 50 Questions on the Knowledge Exam
You must always pass a written knowledge test if you have never had a license. All new drivers must also complete the Traffic Law and Substance Education course before applying for a license or permit in Florida.
The Florida Class E Knowledge Exam has 50 random questions. You must correctly answer at least 40 out of the 50 questions, meaning you can only miss 10.
Expect at least a handful of questions on road signs and how to react when you see them.
Suppose you already hold a valid driver’s license from another state, Canada, France, or South Korea. In that case, the Department usually waives the written test – but check with your local FLHSMV center or tax collector office.
Free Interactive Practice Tests
The best way to prepare for your Florida Class E Knowledge Exam is to thoroughly study the Driver’s License Handbook and then take several practice tests.
With these practice tests, you’ll get instant feedback and learn faster.

The Official Test and Testing Options
In person at a Service Center
You can take the Class E Knowledge Exam at a service center.
At Home or In Class
Anyone under 18 can take the Class E Knowledge Exam online at home or in a class. Several approved third-party administrators provide this service.
Ensure you have a Parent Proctoring Form, which must be notarized or signed by a driver’s license examiner.
If you pass an online test, the system automatically forwards the result to FLHSMV. This information will be available at all driver’s license offices. You may still be selected for a mandatory re-test in a driver’s license or tax collector office before your permit or license is issued.
Driver Education Class – DELAP
Through Driver Education Licensing Assistance Program (DELAP), many high school driver education classes provide the knowledge exam.
If you pass your exam through an approved DELAP course in a public or private school, your teacher will submit your test records to FLHSMV’s database.
Contact your local high school to check if they are participating in DELAP.
