Texas Teen Drivers Must Complete ITTD Program
Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) Program
Since 2015, Texas teen drivers must complete a new program emphasizing the ever-increasing dangers of distracted driving.
Anyone participating in a Teen Driver Education program must also complete the ITTD program. A teenager must meet the requirements before being eligible to take the driving skills exam.
What is the Purpose of the ITTD Program?
The Texas Department of Public Safety (TxDPS) has developed the ITTD program to save lives through education and awareness, emphasizing distracted driving. TxDPS wants to reduce the crash risk for teen drivers and passengers by educating young or new drivers about the dangers of distracted driving.
What is the ITTD Program?
ITTD is a two-hour video about safe driving. It is a prerequisite and the last step before taking the road test. The video contains eight (8) different modules that you can view independently.
ITTD is NOT part of the 32 classroom hours of Driver Education that you must take as a teen driver. You complete the ITTD after your driver’s education course and before the road skills test.
You can get the video through a Third Party Skills Testing (TPST) authorized school or TxDPS website. Follow this link: TXDPS Impact Texas Teen Driver Course.
When Should You Complete the ITTD Program?
Before taking your road skills test, you must view the ITTD video and receive a completion certificate. You must continue with the skills test within 90 days of the certificate.

My son, Nathan Akins, completed this, but at the time he wasn’t able to print it off. Is there a way to print it now? If so what would I need to do?
