Illinois Review Course Workbook

Illinois Secretary of State releases a Driver’s license practice guide for Illinois drivers.

The Review Course Workbook is designed to give drivers, and in particular senior citizens, a valuable tool in refreshing the knowledge of Illinois driving laws. This is often needed when drivers are required to take the written knowledge test, either as a new driver or when renewing an Illinois Driver’s License.

A License Practice Guide with Test Questions

The Illinois guide combines an explanation of the driving exam with a practice written exam. The questions and information are taken from the official Rules of the Road, but is simplified to help drivers measure their general knowledge of driving skills and Illinois traffic laws.

How to Use the Review Course Workbook

You should start with a review of the Illinois Rules of the Road manual. It contains everything you need to know to pass the written knowledge test. The practice questions in the workbook are limited to true or false questions together with 24 road signs. They will give you a general idea of the type of questions you can expect on the real test.

You should, however, be aware that the real exam consists of 35 questions, of which 15 are traffic signs. The remaining 20 questions are either multiple-choice or true-false questions. The most of them are multiple-choice.

If you are taking the test as a first-time applicant, you should not expect the same questions on your real written test.
