New Jersey Permit Test No. 1 - Passing score: 80%

The passing score in New Jersey is 80 percent. It means you should answer at least 40 out of 50 questions correctly to pass both this practice test and the real MVC test.

The safest tactic, however, is to aim for a full score on each MVC practice test.

Take as many tests as you need to feel comfortable with all answers. Learn by your mistakes. If needed, use the MVC Driver Manual and read up on the facts.

The more practice tests you take, the more you cover of the New Jersey Driver Manual and the easier the real test will be.

What You Must Know for Your New Jersey MVC Knowledge Test

The vision test and multiple-choice knowledge test are your first steps towards a basic New Jersey Driver License.

The knowledge test is a computer-based test. You must answer 50 questions about road rules, New Jersey traffic laws, road signs, and traffic signals. The computer selects the questions at random from a large question bank, which means that each test is different.

You should read each question carefully before answering. Yo have plenty of time to complete the test.

The Test is Available in other Languages than English

New Jersey MVC offers the knowledge test in English and these foreign languages: Arabic, Chinese, French, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish. An audio version of the test (where you listen to the questions through headphones) is also available. If you are deaf or hard of hearing, MVC also offers the test using sign language visuals.

If the test isn't available in your language, you must first attempt the test in any of the languages available. Should you fail the test, you should inform the MVC personnel and they will plan to secure an interpreter in your native language. This interpreter is free of charge.

How to Study for the New Jersey Test

Everything you need to know to pass the knowledge exam is in the New Jersey Driver Manual. You can get it for free online or get it from a MVC location where you live.
