The passing score in Indiana is 84 percent. It means you should answer at least 42 out of 50 questions correctly to pass both this practice test and the real BMV test.
The safest tactic, however, is to aim for a full score on each BMV practice test.
Take as many tests as you need to feel comfortable with all answers. Learn by your mistakes. If needed, use the BMV Driver Manual and read up on the facts.
The more practice tests you take, the more you cover of the Indiana Driver Manual and the easier the real test will be.
A question about the shapes or colors of Indiana road signs is likely to appear on your BMV permit practice test, and may also appear your real written exam. The idea is that you should be able to recognize signs from a distance and act correctly, even if the sign is barely visible.
Diamond shaped signs are perhaps most important. They warn you of possible hazards on or close to the road. If you aren't sure about the message on the sign, the shape and the colors yellow (for general warning) or orange (indicates a work zone) should tell you to slow down and be extra alert.
A circular shaped sign is placed on the side of the road when you approach a railroad crossing. It is the only circular sign in Indiana and United States. Slow down and be prepared to stop, if necessary. Be aware that some vehicles ALWAYS stop at railroad crossings.
Yield signs and stop signs are also easy to identify by their unique shape.
Even if all test questions and answers are carefully reviewed and verified against the Indiana Driver Manual and State laws, there is always a risk of errors in a test when rules change. Let us know if you find something we have missed in our practice tests and we will correct it!
